It's all in the name! A clinic to cure sounds? AUDIOCLINIC_ep immerses the listener in an environment where a completely nailed and scalpel-cut sound madness manifests itself. Few years before we first heard about "flashcore", this EP explores a certain rhythmic instability making it close to undanceable.

AUDIOCLINIC_ep immerses the listener in an environment where a completely nailed and scalpel-cut sound madness manifests itself. Not long before we first heard about "flashcore", this EP explores a certain rhythmic instability making it close to undanceable.

Born from an improvised recording with an obscure Reaktor 4 ensemble, it was a sound material that needed intense micro-editing sessions. My encounter at the crossroads of modular synthesis and excessive copy/paste method, with the recent abstractions of Autechre and the Schematic label, as the only references.

Absolutely nothing is natural in this recording as it is bathed in an atmosphere that is both liquid and electric, in which only the machines have control and speak amongst themselves in a flow where there is not much human left. However, the record does not fall into "transhumanist" SFX poetry, without certain organic sounds asserting themselves in order to preserve a depth of soul.

Such an autistic creation, when we consider the context: living in Montpellier in 2004 and facing the prejudice of producing a form of the so-called IDM, in a city where the local electronic scene was domainated by the vibes of drum n' bass and house music. That alone was enough to make me feel isolated, but fortunately I had the Angström record label in Toulouse and numerous events of my mates from NEUROSYSTEM in Bordeaux within a few hours by train, and obviously, the internet was also there to help alleviate this loneliness.

Bonus memory from that period, a friend came up to me after one of my live sets and said: “It’s actually really danceable after all!!”
