It was the early 2000s, we were in our twenties, some UK based electronic music producers had already laid the first stones and opened the way, we followed it passionately, we had put aside our guitars to play with computers and supercharged softwares in the same way, this at the extreme...

It was the early 2000s, we were in our twenties, some UK-based electronic music producers had already opened the way and we followed it passionately. We put aside our guitars to play with computers and supercharged software in the same way as we’d played in real life, i.e. taking it to the extreme...

We were young and guided by instinct towards multiple possible sound paths. We didn't know exactly where we were going. Between an alternative rock heritage and avant-garde techno in motion, punk spirit remains intact. It simply mutated from distortion to granular, spectral and all possible DSP effects, from hypnotic beats to syncopated rhythm, the only aim being to avoid being shackled to any single style or genre.

STR3TCH_ep was my first self-produced record (300 copies on CD). A sonic trip into the infinite smallness of stretched waveforms. A speculative adventure, undoubtedly spontaneous and fresh, to see what harmonic fields emerge from such an abstraction. Sync skipping abuses, clicks, bleeps, 8-bits noises, digital beats, dark ambient pads and other sound defragmentation were part of the recipe for this organized digital chaos. Sometimes soaring, often intense but above all, it was my own pre-futuristic vision of this era.

It was the time for geek and nerd youth, who fed the web as much as they fed on it, sticking to their screens and numerous online forums (Myspace was barely born), with no intention of frequenting clubs, but rather meeting up in art galleries, an impromptu rave party or the basement of a local restaurant. I played at some of these places and met a lot of friends... arms open towards the future.
